From Mexico to the World

As a young artist who grew up in Morelia, central Mexico, Oscar Torres has built his career as illustrator and knew that art was his destiny. This Galeria's mate won the « Merito Juvenil de Michoacan » prize in 2012 and got involved in muralist actions like the Ocean project at the children's Michoacan hospital. His work as a visual artist in cultural festivals is a captivating representation of the Mexican identity. Dear mates, you can see it for yourselves.

Oscar just launched a new project this month and I had the privilege of speaking to him about this new dream.

Lucia : Tell me more about your new website oscartorres.net, how did this idea come out ?

Oscar : This is a project I always wanted to do, why ? Because most of my work is focused on the design world and this one is more personal, it's more about my perception and my essence, I really want to share this with everyone. This website is about decorative details to give style to your home with a piece of me, I want to give colour, life and happiness with this new shop in Mexico and abroad.

L : I read on the websites's blog that your products are a customized range of articles at reasonable prices and I know that a lot of artist think that to multiply creations take away the real art value, what do you think about it ? How do you really perceive your work ?

O : I'm an admirer of the aesthetic and the beautiful details in the daily life, my work and illustrations are a reflection of it. For me my work is everything I am and can perceive in my lifestyle and my feelings. I really love my work and I really want to share it. Admittedly, my art may have less valuable than an unique piece, but this idea is more about a sellable art, an art for everyone. I want to create the opportunity to get artistic objects for your spaces without a big investment.

L : Do you already have some customers ?

O : Yes, we have, we launched a week ago and I was surprised by the positive results.

L : What is the next step for your project ?

O : In November we are going to launch more articles in the website like cushions, curtains, towels, etc.
