Two weeks ago, we held the first Galeria round table meeting. It happened at Instituto Moreira Salles (Moreira Salles Institute), an almost hidden spot in Rio de Janeiro, that breathes culture and art. The idea was to get our mates together to talk about a topic previously chosen. We invited people with some experience in the area to share their stories with us. BANG, totally awesome! So, our opening theme was personal marketing and branding on Instagram with two wonderful #galeriamates sharing their thoughts about it.

Juliana Goulart is from Rio Grande do Sul (aka “gaúcha”) and came to Rio de Janeiro two years ago. She fell in love at the first sight! Then, she created an Instagram account to share sights and adventures (literally) of Rio. Soon she realized it was already a reference of tips to people in and out of town. From that, Juliana improved her knowledge about the app and started using it as a work tool. Nowadays, she can take it as a communication vehicle, sharing her own experiences or when invited by companies, particularly about gastronomy.

Pedro Gomes is a photographer and… (dramatic pause) a NINETEEN year-old boy. Whaaaat? Yes! His photography was born in the “Instagram Age” and it is very interesting to see how it’s absolutely natural for him. Pedro keeps seeking a language to his work and uses Instagram some of his portfolio. It is very important that the photos are accessible to anyone and it is nice to notice that Instagram gathers both experts and first users, who are coming into contact with photography for the first time: fully democratic.

We talked for three uninterrupted hours (including many laughs!) and, for sure, learned a lot with both of them! Can’t wait to the next edition, which should be happening in November. Stay tuned for updates. Hasta luego :)
