HERE is the first live performance of virtual reality painting in Latin America. Using HTC Vive glasses and Google 3D Tilt Brush tool, the project was supported by Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro.
These softwares and cameras are able to delimit the space for interaction with reality seen through the glasses. It makes you feel completely involved and allows you to move around in this “parallel universe”. How awesome is that, right?
I talked to Bruno Albert, one of our mates, who was responsible for the musical part of the performance. He told me a little more about the project:
Laís: Hey, Bruno! Would you tell us about the creation process of HERE?
Bruno: Me and Stephanie, the visual and dancing performer, basically talked about ideas and experiences we had before in life, so things came up naturally. We met to develop this project during a few months.
L: So, from that moment, was it all improvised?
B: She created some default movement sequences to explore during the performance, but they flowed naturally. It’s hard to be material and immaterial at the same time. It’s a sensory experience, totally different. And it would not be possible without the great help and guidance of the director João Silveira. L: And how does music pops up in the middle of that?
B: Movement and space were writing something together according to what happened during the rehearsals. We saw the different paths they would take, including the sound. It was symbiotic. Certainly, the sound was responsible to take the public to this other dimension created with the glasses.
So, check it out! No matter if you are here, there or everywhere :)
